My name is Caleb Szklarz. I was born into a military family while my father was stationed in England. We retired in Alaska and that is where I intend to make my permanent home. I was originally looking into obtaining a cybersecurity degree, which is what my father does, but after much prayer and counsel, I felt the Lord leading me to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse. I believe nursing will allow me to create positive impact and stability for my future family. My upbringing as one of eight siblings instilled a love for children and collaborative spirit, shaping my desire to provide nurturing care.
As a former Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at our local Pioneer Home, I've gained invaluable experience in compassionate caregiving. My involvement in weekly church services at the Denali Center demonstrates my dedication to supporting a sense of community and offering wholistic care to both the physical needs and the emotional and spiritual needs. My diverse background, with an initial focus on cybersecurity, has reinforced my critical thinking and problem-solving skills – assets which are highly applicable to nursing.
I approach nursing with appreciative inquiry, valuing every patient and team member, and I have a deep commitment to a growth mindset centered on ongoing learning. My journey has fostered resilience, which will underpin my unwavering dedication to exceptional patient care.
I am currently obtaining my Masters in Nursing Education with which I hope to train and develop the future generation of nurses and caregivers.
Leadership statement: I believe in collaborative servant leadership. My experience managing responsibilities within a large family and my role in church services have honed my ability to foster connections, encourage others, and work towards a common goal.
